Adoption Policy (as of January, 2009)
Due to the new breed ownership restrictions in the
revised
US Army pet housing policy, issued January of 2009, any dogs
that fit the following descriptions cannot be adopted to members of
the US Army and/or their families: ANY and ALL Pit Bull, American
Staffordshire, Bull Terrier and Bull Dog breeds, Rottweilers,
Doberman Pinschers, or Chows. This includes both purebred and
mixed-bred dogs. |

| This happy, bouncy puppy is
named Buster! Buster is a 5 month old
(February 2011) Chihuahua mix; he weighs 10 pounds. He has
been vaccinated and is scheduled to be neutered and
micro-chipped on March 1st. Buster is curious about everything
and he loves to explore his environment. Some of his
favorite things include playing with tennis balls and
stuffed toys and going on walks. What he likes best of all,
though, is people—he loves to cuddle! Buster is currently
being house-trained and he is learning some basic obedience

| This happy boy is named
Max! Max is a 14 year old lab mix. He
weighs about 65 pounds, has been neutered and micro-chipped,
and is current on his vaccinations. Aside from a little
arthritis, he is in good health. Max is a low-energy dog and
is happy to lie around the house. He enjoys short play-dates
with other dogs and short, leisurely walks, but he mostly
likes to take it easy! Max loves exploring outside with his
nose, visiting with humans and dogs that pass by, and
treats! He will probably do best in a home without young
kids given his relaxing lifestyle. Max likes kids and he
gets along well with other dogs, but he doesn’t care for
cats. Max is enjoying life and he needs a loving home. If

| This adorable little min pin
mix is named Mason! He is about 3
years old and weighs approximately 5 pounds. Mason has been
neutered and micro-chipped and his vaccinations are current.
New situations still make him a bit nervous, but he is doing
better every day. Playing in the backyard is now one of his
favorite activities—as is going for a walk! He even sort of
likes to ride in the car, now. He absolutely loves to be
held and petted. He is being house-trained and is learning

| Sophie is a 4 year old,
purebred beagle! Sophie is pretty mellow and quiet! She likes other
dogs and people of all ages. One of her favorite activities is going
to the dog park because there are so many scents to follow. She
pretty much sniffs every square inch of the park! Sophie is
currently learning about the joys of living in a house—like a big,
soft, comfy dog bed; humans who will scratch behind her ears when
she follows them from room to room; and, of course, treats!. She is
now house-trained and is learning some basic obedience commands.
Sophie has been spayed and micro-chipped and is current on her
vaccinations. She has epilepsy and takes meds to control seizures.

Kiko! Kiko is a 13 pound, 8 year old
Chihuahua mix. He loves going on walks and playing with his
stuffed toys - especially the ones with squeakers! He gets
along well with small dogs but can be a little uneasy around
big ones. His first impulse when he sees a cat is to chase
it, but if the cat doesn’t run, he quickly loses interest.
Kiko is very affectionate and appreciates every little bit
of attention he gets from his humans. He knows some basic
obedience commands and he walks nicely on the leash. He has
been neutered and micro-chipped and his vaccinations are

| Meet Sugaree!
(She is so sweet!) Sugaree is a 1 year old Siberian husky.
She only weighs about 40 pounds, so she’s a small husky.
Like most puppies, she loves to explore and to run and chase
and play. She likes toys - especially those with squeakers!
What she likes best of all, though, is hanging out with her
humans. Do you watch football? Sugaree will be right at your
feet! And if you have some popcorn, that’s even better! She
is currently learning basic obedience commands and house
manners. She wants to please, so she catches on quickly. Her
vaccinations are current and she will be spayed soon. She is
currently being treated for a skin condition. If you would

Pa’ele. Pa’ele is a 12 year old,
pure-bred dachshund. He weighs about 20 pounds. Pa’ele is
happy and well-behaved. He gets along well with people, with
other dogs, and with cats. He loves to go on walks and
explore every tree and bush along the way. Pa’ele is current
on his vaccinations and will be neutered soon. Pa’ele is
deaf but he seems to recognize some hand signals for basic

| This shy girl is named
Angel. Angel is a nine year old
Chihuahua / terrier mix. She weighs 17 pounds and is current
on her vaccinations; she is also micro-chipped and spayed.
She loves to cuddle with her favorite humans and she will
even let you know that she needs some attention by gently
nudging your hand. She needs daily walks and is
house-trained. She loves to sit on the couch and watch
television or to play outside in the grass. She gets along
well with small dogs and cats; large dogs scare her. Angel
is the perfect companion for somebody who wants a quiet and
well-behaved dog. She has plenty of years and lots of love

| Say hello to Bluto!
Bluto is an 8 year old Russell Terrier mix. He weighs 20
pounds and his vaccinations are current. He has been
micro-chipped and will be neutered in early March. Bluto is
a bouncy, happy-go-lucky little dog! He loves to run and
play in the backyard—especially if someone is throwing a
ball for him to chase! He can run really fast on those short
little legs! In the house, he loves to snuggle on someone’s
lap and give puppy kisses. Bluto knows some basic obedience
commands and is learning to walk on a leash. (His preference
would be to leave the leash at home, but he’s getting the
hang of it!) Bluto generally gets along well with other dogs
but can be uneasy if confronted with several dogs at once.

Copper! Copper is an 8 year old lab
mix. In the sunlight, his coat shows beautiful, copper
highlights! He weighs approximately 80 pounds and, yes, he’s
a bit overweight! He has been neutered and micro-chipped and
is current on his shots. Copper loves people and is grateful
for attention and affection. He gets along well with other
dogs, and he enjoys leisurely walks around the neighborhood.
He is house-trained and knows some basic obedience commands.

Benjii! Benjii is a 10 month old
Basenji mix. Like most Basenji’s, he is smart as a whip,
fast as the wind, and able to leap tall fences in a single
bound! Like most puppies, he loves to play with other dogs
and with people. Right now, Benjii is learning about the
joys of living in a home with a loving family: things like
comfy dog beds, doggie treats and toys, and snuggling on the
couch with his humans. His foster family is teaching him
some basic obedience commands. Benjii weighs about 30 pounds
and is current on his vaccinations. He will be neutered in

year old, 60 lb lab/chow mix. He's a pretty mellow guy, but
will definitely express his joy when it's time for a walk.
He's very social with other dogs and people, although small
children tend to frighten him a bit. Jack knows how to sit,
lay down and shake. He's up-to-date on all his shots, is
neutered and micro-chipped and is looking for a home that is

Daisy! Daisy is a 2 year old terrier mix. She weighs about
25 pounds, she has been spayed and micro-chipped, and her
vaccinations are current. Are you looking for an affectionate little

is a little shy if she’s meeting you for the first time, but she
quickly warms up and wants to sit on your lap and give puppy kisses.
Her foster family is introducing her to new people and new
situations - including the beach - to help her become more

is a 4 year old whippet mix that loves people and gets along
well with other dogs. She appreciates every little bit of
attention she receives from her human and she likes to give
puppy kisses. Claire is a typical whippet. She has short
bursts of puppy-like energy and runs really fast; that is
followed by long periods of lounging in the shade. In the
house, she is quiet and well-behaved. Claire weighs about 45
pounds; her vaccinations are current; and she will be spayed
in late April. Claire had a laceration on her side when she
came into the HDF program, but it is almost completely
healed. Without the bandage, she looks much more like a

| Meet Kona!
Kona is a little 5 year old Chihuahua that weighs about 7
pounds. If you are looking for a happy, bouncy little
walking buddy, then Kona is your guy. He gets really excited
when it’s time to go for a walk! In the house, he’s calm and
well-behaved and just wants to be near you—preferably,
beside you in the recliner. He looks at toys with curiosity
and he watches the other dogs play, but so far has not
picked up a toy or joined in the play--but it’s just a
matter of time. Kona’s vaccinations are current and he is
scheduled to be neutered in late April. If you would like to

| Meet Roxy! Roxy
is a 5 year old, purebred American Bulldog. She weighs about
80 pounds, has been spayed and micro-chipped, and is up to
date on her vaccinations. Roxy is a medium energy-level dog.
Sometimes she likes to just lie around the house; other
times she likes to go running with her favorite humans. She
is very affectionate and gets along well with people of all
ages. She does fine with most other dogs but doesn’t care
for cats. Roxy is both house-trained and crate-trained. In
fact, she will go in her crate with no fuss! She knows basic
